Brewing Change: Sustainability Agenda 2030
Central to Julius Meinl's mission is a dedication to sustainability, built upon three main pillars: responsible coffee sourcing, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing employee engagement. These pillars underpin our pledge to create a lasting, positive influence. 'Responsibly Selected Coffee' signifies that Julius Meinl coffee is sourced through sustainability programs that comply with the Global Coffee Platform’s (GCP) standards. By the end of 2025, their goal is for all coffee purchased globally and roasted in their Vienna and Vicenza facilities to adhere to this standard. Julius Meinl is devoted to making coffee and tea more sustainable by collaborating closely with suppliers, NGOs, farmer organizations, roasters, communities, and governments to foster continuous positive change.
Generations Programme
Julius Meinl is dedicated to the future of coffee while respecting its rich heritage. Through their Generations Programme, they collaborate with partners to execute projects in coffee-producing countries. These efforts aim to preserve farming knowledge across generations and provide farmers with the skills necessary to develop resilient farms, safeguarding coffee's future against climate and economic challenges.

Green Coffee Pods Continue the Journey of Sustainability
Julius Meinl's deep passion for coffee is paired with their commitment to maintaining a healthy and green planet, all while offering the convenience and flavor of preparing your morning coffee with single-use capsules.
There are three kinds of eco-coffee capsules
Eco-friendly coffee capsules come in three types – there's the aluminium variety that needs emptying before recycling, compostable capsules made out of organic materials, and a reusable stainless steel type.
Julius Meinl’s Bio Inspresso capsules are 100% biodegradable and we’re proud of the innovation we’ve pulled off here. Made out of Biopolymer, and free of aluminium and plastic, our capsules are fully industrially compostable.
Beware of the quality of coffee within espresso pods
For Julius, creating a coffee capsule from sustainable materials that also preserves the intense aromas and flavors of coffee until it's time to use the capsule was no easy task. It took time and perseverence but they have sucseeded in 2021. As an innovator, Julius went so far as to patent their aroma seal technology in their espresso pods and also won the 'Packaging Innovation Award' at a hospitality trade fair in Milan.
